Are Cars Becoming Too Perfect?

We humans have been using cars for about 140 years now. We had good vehicles, fast lightnings, boring "A to B"s, weird projects, offroad crawlers, tower beasts... They all shared something unique which no other car had back in the day. What was it? What is the problem today? Let's find out!

What are They Special For?

Cars have many different uses much more than we can imagine. We use them to tow heavy loads, we use them to have some fun in the weekends, or more simply; we just get from point A to B. As you can see here in this image, we have many types of cars which are very different from each other. None of them are being used for the same exact purpose. New cars lack "Personality" trying to chase "Perfection".

What is "Perfection" and "Personality"?

For some, the perfect car is the one which dominates speed. For others, it's pure comfort. Meanwhile some want to go wherever they want whenever they want. And most of the people just ask to go from A to B without problems. They get their own personality with their own goals while they were being designed. Every single one here chased a single goal, unlike modern cars which chase everything and end up failing at everything. Each one here has their own strength and their own flaws, making them feel alive instead of soulless metal scraps. Take the 1st. car: Too loud, but crushes records. 2nd. one: Not practical, but can drive anywhere you desire to. 3rd. car: Perfect use for narrow streets and "A to B" demand, but not too exciting as others. Finally, you need a chauffeur for the 4th one but you also get a whole living room over wheels.

So Called "Perfect" Car:

This is the most perfect car you can find anywhere. It can move anywhere, crush records, is compact enough to use in streets, and can do all these without dropping a single drop of water inside a glass someone holds inside. Modern cars chase this philosophy, trying to be the best in every way. But clearly, this is impossible. We don't lack enough technology or anything, this will stay as pure sunshine and rainbows forever. And as you can clearly see; this car doesn't exist, cannot exist. It was generated by AI.

Can They Actually Exist?

True answer: No. Honest answer: Yes.

But not as the way I have written up right there. The only perfect car can exist in your own mind. Perfection isn't an objective thing; it's been subjective, it's subjective, it will stay subjective. A famous race car manufacturer's creator once called this car right here "Most beautiful car ever made, it's absolutely perfect!" and to be honest, he isn't wrong. But all these are our own thoughts. They may be the same as other people think; but this makes it united, not objective.

Personal Thought:

For me, the "Perfect" concept is only the timeless ones. The ones that look like they were both released 40 year ago and also look like they are still a concept about to be launched to the media tomorrow. Because timeless designs share one thing that doesn't ruin identity because they all have it: Functionality. Designs that don't chase trends and focus on real functions tend to look timeless and be loved by every age group on Earth. Show this car right here to a 70 year old lady and a 7 year old kid. They will both go "Wow! What a nice looking car." Reason? Timeless design which has proper function.

Conclusion:

Perfect cars don't actually exist, they all have their strengths and flaws. Chasing perfection will end you up with nothing but only pieces of scraps. Chasing a single way will end you up with nothing else than a proper vehicle. No car can be objectively perfect unless it is sunshine and rainbows. Some lose practicality, some lose power, some lose comfort, some lose everything chasing everything. I hope you enjoyed reading this article, thank you for your time!
