Humanity's Obsession with Beast Machines

Humanity has been making mad science for the last 200 years now. Track dominating cars, ships covering the entire sea, aircraft exceeding speed of sound... Why do humans still make these? These aren't being used regularly, but are still made. Why? Let's find out!

Why are Cars?

Cars have officially been with us for 140 years now. They have made our lives way easier compared to 141 years ago with horse carriers everywhere. Including the horrible smell horses cause in streets, cars have really helped us. But they're understandable until a point, because people can afford and use even the most extreme ones without mostly any harm. But still, machines like these aren't necessary! Even though they're mostly safe, thousands of people die from car crashes every single year. Why do we still make them? The answer is "Speed".

Why are Ships?

Ships have been with us for over 6000 years, making them the oldest one here on the list. They have been used widely in transportation, trading, fish farming, vacations, wars... Anything you can imagine. But did we actually need something like "Titanic" to only transport people? Did we actually chase a goal where we tried to prove ourselves to anyone? I'm not even sure if there's anyone for us to prove ourselves after making the Titanic. But as we all know, this has ended with a tragedy leading to hundreds of lives being taken away. Why do we still make them? The answer is "Power".

Why are Aircrafts?

Aircrafts have been around with us for 120 years now. Compared to other two, they're the youngest among all. These machines were far more revolutionary than the others, making people be able to literally fly, something that humans couldn't do the same biologically like running or swimming. We mostly use them for transportation and trading, but also for war. Thankfully we haven't used any for the last purpose for 60 years, yet we build newer ones with far more developed technology than we can even reach the fraction of. We never access any of this technology either. Why do we still make them? The answer is "Impossible".

Conclusion:

Perhaps humanity does not build monsters because it is cruel. Perhaps it does so because deep inside, humans are fascinated by power, speed, and the impossible. I hope you enjoyed reading this article, thank you for your time!
