MERCY- A Film Review

Mercy is a futuristic thriller that puts a modern spin on crime and justice in a world dominated by technology and AI. The story takes place in a really futuristic Los Angeles where criminal trials are judged by an advanced AI system called Mercy. Chris Pratt plays an LAPD detective Chris Raven, a man who once helped found this system only to find himself being accused of murdering his wife. With the AI judge rendering decisions in real time, Raven has just 90 minutes to prove he is innocent. But before that let me explain the movie more.

Raven is an LAPD detective that lives a quiet life with a daughter and a wife. But everything changes when his wife is found murdered. Shockingly, Mercy identifies Chris himself as the main suspect. According to the system, the data proves he is guilty. Chris is arrested and told he has 90 minutes before the AI finalizes its verdict and carries out the punishment. As the clock counts down, Chris fights to prove his innocence. He retraces his steps, re-examines the evidence, and begins to notice flaws in the system he once believed in. Along the way, he uncovers hidden details that suggest the AI may be manipulating information or ignoring key human factors like emotion, trauma, and context. Chris receives help from allies who also begin to question Mercy’s authority. They discover that the system may have been designed to choose efficiency over truth and that once Mercy reaches a conclusion, it actively filters out evidence that affects its judgment. This raises serious questions about whether true justice can exist without human touch. In the final moments, Chris races against time to expose the truth behind his wife’s death and the dangerous limitations of the AI system. The film ends by challenging the audience to think about the risks of giving technology complete control over human lives, justice, and morality.

While i was watching it action never dropped a bit and i was super shocked when I saw what happened to his wife. So if you like thriller or detective type movies it is really fun to watch. Even if you get bored easily from them, this movie won't leave you bored.
