Michael Jackson: The Moonwalker

Let’s be honest, we all know his name. Michael Jackson is one of the most famous and influential people in music history. Born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, he showed everyone that he was bound for stardom from a very young age. He had a great talent that we can’t ignore.

Michael grew up in a huge family. His father, Joseph Jackson, saw the talent in his kids and formed a group called “The Jackson 5”. Michael was the youngest member, but he became the lead singer with his rare talent.

However, his childhood was not quite easy. His father was very strict and pushed the kids too hard during practice. Michael worked under big pressure, which took away his normal childhood. His voice was incredibly powerful and full of emotion. People instantly fell in love with him. With this hardworking and hits like “ABC” the group became famous worldwide.

After a while Michael grew older and he decided to start his solo career without his brothers. This life changing decision showed perfectly good and it changed pop music forever. In 1982, he released his famous album “Thriller”. To this day, it remains as the best selling album of all time. It had massive hits like “Billie Jean” and “Beat It”. People still listen and dance with these timeless songs.

Moreover, Michael was not just a singer, he was also a great dancer and creator. He changed the vision of music videos. Michael took it to another level, he turned them into mini movies with storylines, costumes, and special effects. The “Thriller” video is the perfect example for this legendary perspective of music videos. It has a plot about a zombie, amazing dance moves, unique makeup and costumes. It’s basically a horror movie in a music video.

He also created his own dance style that people admired. His most famous move is the Moonwalk, where he glides backwards while looking like he is walking forward. The first time he did it on TV, the whole world got shocked and they were amazed. Even today, dancers are trying to master this move.

On the other hand, his life was not always easy and normal. Being a famous person in the world is a heavy burden. The media had started to spread rumors about his live and he lost his privacy. As he grew older he struggled with a condition called vitiligo, which caused white patches on his skin. Media used this to spread rumors they accused him of bleaching his skin to change his race because of their ignorance. Furthermore, he build an amusement park called “Neverland” which is a sign of his difficult childhood. He just wanted to feel like a child again.

Michael Jackson passed away in 2009, but his impact on people and music is never going to die. There are countless reasons that he is the “King Of Pop”.
