With its long and deep history, the British Royal Family has a great fame all around the world. And after the death of the Queen, everyone is talking about them nowadays. In the past weeks they had a very special event; the coronation of the new king. Since there weren’t any coronations for the past 70 years the event was very important. Does the fame of this family only come from their history? Of course not. Today you’re going to learn about all the drama that has been going around the family.
The coronation took place in the Westminster Abbey on May 6. That day, not only King Charles, but also his wife Camilla was crowned and got the title “Queen Consort”. And this is where the dramas start. Because Camilla wasn’t the first wife of Charles. King Charles was married with Princess Diana, who is also known as “The Queen of Hearts”. Charles and Diana got married in 1981 and their story began. They had their first son, Prince William, in 1982 and second son, Prince Harry, in 1984. Princes Diana managed to get into peoples’ hearts so quickly with her kindness. But things were not going happily in their marriage and the couple broke up in 1992. In 1994 Charles confessed that he had cheated on Diana with Camilla, while Diana was in public. After that people expected Diana to hide herself but what she did was the exact opposite. She attended an event with a beautiful black dress, which got into the history as “The Iconic Revenge Dress”. The couple got divorced in 1996. And sadly in 1997 Princess Diana died in a tragic car accident. After the accident there was a big question; “Was the accident really an accident”? Even after all the years passed the rumors are still there. 8 years after Diana’s’ death, Charles and Camilla got married and had their seats on the way to the crown. Even these days people still say that it should have been Diana who was crowned in the coronation.
Another thing that happened on the coronation day was about Prince Harry. But to tell this we should first look at everything that happened in the past. After Prince Harry got married with Meghan Markle, an American actress, in 2018 the Royal Family wasn’t very happy. Because Meghan was American, she was an actress, and she had black parents. All these reasons were enough for the family not to want this marriage. But the couple didn’t mind what people said and kept living their happy life. They got their first child, Archie, in 2019. On January, 8 2020 they made a choice that changed everything. Prince Harry announced that he was quitting from all his royal duties. He gave up all his responsibilities just to protect his wife and his family. And after that things started to get complicated in the royal family. Harry’s relationship with his brother William started falling apart and going worse every day. On the other hand, William and his wife Kate were a perfect family in the eyes of the Queens. They were doing everything according to the protocol without breaking any royal rules while Harry and Meghan were living just as how they wanted. This caused the family fall apart day by day. Harry and Meghan moved to America and had their first daughter, Lilibet, there in 2021. After the death of the Queens, Prince and Princess of Sussex came to England to join the funeral. People thought if the funeral would be able to bring the brothers together again. But then the docuseries of Harry and Meghan got published on Netflix, a show where they shared all their story from the beginning, including some secret stories of the royal family. The royal family got very angry after the show was published. And all the hopes of Harry and William getting closer were burned again. After all that happened people wondered if Prince Harry would be attending the coronation. Prince Harry appeared at the coronation alone and said that Meghan stayed in America with the kids because of Prince Archies’ birthday. But in the coronation Prince Harrys’ seat was on the third row while even grandchildren of Camilla were sitting in the first. But even after all that happened Prince Harry was looking pretty happy during the coronation. He was seen talking to his cousin and his aunt Princess Anne. And he left right after the coronation without attending the celebrations.
